    The carrier tape is a key ribbon-like product in the field of electronic packaging. It has a specific thickness, with positioning holes at the edges and component cavities evenly distributed on the surface. It needs to be used in conjunction with the cover tape and the reel. The core specifications revolve around size, material, performance, and compatibility, precisely matching the requirements of electronic component packaging and SMT automated production. 




    Embossed Carrier Tape   Basic Dimension Specifications 

    1.The size is the core component for the adapter of the tape carrier and the surface mount machine. The key parameters must be strictly controlled to minimize errors and ensure the accuracy of material supply. 
    Bandwidth: The mainstream specifications range from 4mm to 104mm. Commonly available sizes include 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, 24mm, 32mm, and 56mm, 72mm, 88mm, 104mm, etc. They can be precisely matched according to the size of the components. For example, small resistors typically use an 8mm bandwidth, while large connectors can choose a bandwidth of 56mm or above. 

    2. Mold cavity parameters: The length, width and depth of the mold cavity (pocket) should be compatible with the size of the
    components. Usually, the depth is 0.1-0.3mm greater than the height of the component to prevent the component from being compressed during packaging; the shape can be customized as circular, square, or irregular, ensuring the stable placement of the components. 


    3. Positioning and Accuracy: The diameter of the edge positioning holes (guide holes) is typically 1.5mm or 2.0mm, with an error control of ±0.01mm, precisely matching the positioning pins of the surface mount machine; the flatness error of the edge of the component body is ≤0.1mm/m, and the feeding accuracy can reach ±0.1mm, ensuring no deviation in high-speed feeding. 


    4. Length and Spool: The length of the tape can be customized. It is usually wound onto spools of sizes such as 7 inches, 10 inches, 13 inches, and 15 inches. The inner space dimensions of the spools need to correspond to the bandwidth (for example, an 8mm bandwidth requires an 8mm inner space spool). Some thickened spools can be up to 1.6mm thick.
